Designer lifestyle brand Tommy Hilfiger announced its Spring 2021 Tommy Jeans ‘Luv the World’ capsule, in an effort to extend the lifespan of its products, facilitate 100% recycling and and promote creative ways to upcycle these products.
Owned by PVH Corp, Amsterdam-based Tommy Hilfiger with respect to its ongoing commitment to sustainability, recently unveiled its Spring 2021 Tommy Jeans ‘Luv the World’ capsule to create a fashion world where it ‘Wastes Nothing and Welcomes All’.
The gender-neutral capsule consists of 100% recycled, and 100% recyclable mono-material styles and hangtags that display innovative ways on how you can upcycle your products after use to make new ones for instance how to turn your T-shirt into tote bags or face masks or your hoodie into a dog jacket. The hangtags further include recycling instructions on how to tie-dye white T-shirts. (the process of twisting a garment, tying it in various places with rubber bands and then dyeing it to reveal a colored pattern)
The mono-material styles promote circularity as all garment components from fabric to trims to branding are all developed from around 98% of a single fiber, further enabling the entire product to be recycled after use.
In a statement seen by Green Queen, Tommy Hilfiger said: “Over the last 18 months, our brand has made huge strides towards our sustainability goals. It is so exciting to launch a capsule that embodies our ambitions and takes another step towards becoming a more circular and inclusive brand. The TOMMY JEANS ‘Luv the World’ capsule goes beyond end-to-end social and environmental sustainability considerations. It aims to inspire fans to join us on our mission to create a more circular, inclusive future of fashion.”

The capsule’s aesthetic drew inspiration from oversized band tour merch and the T-shirts, hoodies and sweatpants all feature tie-dye coloring and street style graphics like a branded peace sign, heart and planet earth, with the words ‘Luv the World’ on each piece.
By eliminating waste and promoting diversity, this capsule highlights the brand’s commitment to protecting the planet and with support from PVH, the brand is part of the Make it Possible, a Forward Fashion strategy that has 15 priorities listed to help increase positive impacts to 100% and help over 1 million people across its value chain.
Before this capsule, the brand made headlines by collaborating with non-profit Ellen Macarthur Foundation to launch its first circular design denim collection that is founded on principles like traceability and recyclability and features seven garments including jeans and denim jackets with detachable buttons and removal of metal zippers and leather patches.
