After a successful launch last year, the Conscious Festival, which promises to be vegan and (almost) zero-waste, returns to Hong Kong the weekend of April 13-14 2019 at the Kerry Hotel in Hung Hom Bay with Green Queen as the official Media Partner. Organised by Green Is The New Black (GITNB), The Conscious Festival promises to be an exciting event for budding environmentalists and committed activists alike. The first edition held PMQ in April 2018 involved more than 60 speakers, 70 brands and was attended by over 4,500 conscious enthusiasts. This year, the festival will feature a marketplace of over 80 conscious vendors and ticketed talks from inspirational speakers and leading change-makers including Green Queen herself.
Our current consumption habits and convenience culture has taken a serious toll on our environment. From plastic pollution to rising sea levels and increasingly extreme weather patterns, it has become clear that steps need to be taken. It is crucial to start thinking about what positive changes we can make – and The Conscious Festival is here to motivate us to do that.
The Festival is a two-day event with a mission to improve lifestyle and consumption habits, raise awareness about social and environmental responsibility, encourage #LittleGreenSteps and inspire individuals and communities to take charge in their everyday lives to #LiveMoreConsciously.
GITNB Stephanie Dickson founder believes all of us can make a difference: “It’s possible to live our modern lives while positively impacting our planet and the community. We want people to leave with tangible actions they can do on a daily basis, and show that sustainability is accessible and easy”.
At the core of the Festival are the transformative talks to empower listeners through various stories about making an impact and ideas related to a greener lifestyle. Keynote speakers include Chef Tom of Invisible Kitchen, David Yeung of Green Monday and strategist Anita Varshney of SAP Next-Gen. Green Queen founder Sonalie Figueiras will be moderating a panel Sunday morning abut Alternative Proteins & The Plant Based Movement.
This year’s marketplace will be packed with over 80 local and global brands showcasing sustainable products and delicious plant-based food. The event will also host NGOs such as the Jane Goodall Institute, Conservation International and Redress, and involve 20 ‘edu-tainment’ booths with engaging workshops and activities. Other interactive activities such as green games, live music and art are also planned during the course of the weekend. Another highlight of The Conscious Festival 2019 will be the wellbeing activations, and an exciting special session led by Liv Lo that is not to be missed! Lush will also conduct a series of workshops – from Knot-Wrap demonstrations to making fresh handmade soap classes. The key is for people to get involved in and engage with the issues in a variety of ways.
With a packed agenda of community activations and an inspiring roundup of speakers, the Conscious Festival promises to awaken our green senses and motivate Hong Kongers to take action towards a more sustainable future.
