Japanese vegan food CPG brand 2foods, which offers plant-based eggs and chicken nuggets, has announced its U.S. launch.

With new North American headquarters in downtown Los Angeles and making its U.S. market debut at the Vegan Women Summit in New York next month, 2foods is gearing up for widespread distribution across the country.

‘Catalyst for change’

“I am very excited to announce our expansion into the U.S. market,” Yoshikazu Azuma, CEO and founder of 2foods, said in a statement. “Our goal is to bring our unique and delicious plant-based products to a wider audience and be a catalyst for change in the food industry both in Japan and now in the U.S.”

2foods’ lineup currently includes the Ever Series, which features Ever Egg in partnership with Japan’s largest food manufacturer, Kagome. It also offers Ever Chicken Nuggets. The company says it is in negotiations with various restaurant groups, hotels, and grocery stores across the U.S.

While it’s starting with those two products, 2foods has an extensive range of products available in Tokyo, ranging from traditional Japanese dishes to plant-based cheeseburgers and desserts, including plant-based Brûlée Cheesecake and Gâteau Chocolat.

Last year, the company raised more than $4 million in a Series A funding round led by Kagome Corporation.

“Since April 2021, we have been able to collaborate with Kagome with a sense of speed, taking advantage of each other’s strengths from idea planning to product development,” 2foods’ chief culture officer Yoshio Yahagi said in a statement last year. We were very surprised by the strong sense of unity between Kagome’s management team and the frontline, and the flexibility and speed of the project, which was different from the image we had imagined for a large company.“This investment will bring us even closer together, and we are excited to start developing innovative products that will lead the plant-based food market based on a strong relationship of trust.”

Market expansions

The award-winning company says its U.S. market expansion will allow it to reach a wider audience and bring more meaningful change to the food industry.

2foods will make its debut at the Vegan Women Summit coming to New York next month where it will bring Japanese calligraphy artist from Tokyo, MAMIMOZI, to perform her unique “Calligraf2ity” style — a mix of traditional calligraphy and graffiti/street art.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to launch 2foods from Japan at the Vegan Women Summit during AAPI Month, and I can’t wait,” said Angie Coyne, Operations Director of 2foods U.S. “As someone who is passionate about creating a more vibrant and inclusive community through plant-based living, I am proud to be a part of a company that shares this vision.”
