Organic plant-based creamery Forager Project, which is backed by French-headquartered CPG giant Danone, has launched a new line of dairy-free ice cream made without lactose, soy or gluten and available in five different flavours.
Family-operated U.S.-based Forager Project’s new line is an effort by the brand to further expand into the plant-based category in the country.
Developed from organic cashew milk and other easily recognizable ingredients, the product line features give ice cream flavors, including Vanilla Bean, Bittersweet Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, Salted Caramel and Mint Chip.
In a press release seen by Green Queen, Forager Project co-founder and CEO Stephen Williamson said of the news: “Our expansion into dairy-free ice cream is another step toward achieving our goal to make delicious, organic, plant-based food that leaves people amazed. With our hero ingredient, organic cashews, we’ve created our ice creams to give consumers a delicious dairy-free treat that’s full of flavor and taste and free of pesticides, chemicals and GMOs.”
Creating its products in small batches, the California creamery also offers consumers a range of other plant-based products including plant-based milks, yogurts, sour cream and butter. Just recently, the company unveiled a new line of plant-based cheeses created with the firm’s probiotic cashew milk yogurt.

Priced at US$6.99 per pint, the new line will be available starting from this spring at retailers across the U.S. including Whole Foods Markets, Natural Grocer’s, Market Basket and Earth Fare.
Dairy-free ice cream is having a moment in the U.S.- Perfect Day-backed Brave Robot, a newly launched plant-based and animal-free ice cream brand has already expanded to over 5000 stores.
In addition, Perfect Day joined forces with Hong Kong-based Igloo Dessert Bar to create Asia’s first-ever animal-free ice cream. Earlier this year, Hong Kong-based Green Monday unveiled its first vegan ice cream series created using plant-based coconut milk and cashew milk.
Elsewhere, The Live Green Co, an AI-powered Chilean food tech, launched vegan-friendly clean-label ice creams containing 100% plant-based natural ingredients like bananas, avocados and sunflower seeds and is developed using the firm’s AI technology Charaka.
