You may be surprised to learn that Hong Kong’s newest plant-based dining destination is located in a wellness retreat tucked away in Causeway Bay’s Times Square but we’re here to tell you about it. Fivelements Habitats is offering city-dwellers a relaxing spot to pause, reset and nourish at their Sakti Elixir Bar. The Bar will offer customers a wide range of rejuvenating healthy elixir blends, and their menu will feature nutritious breakfasts, seasonal all-day selections, afternoon tea sets and luscious desserts.
“Let Food be thy Medicine and Medicine by thy Food” is the motto of Sakti Elixir Bar by the new wellness, fitness, spa and lifestyle destination, Fivelements Habitats. The fully plant-based menu, carefully crafted by veteran plant-based Chef Arnaud Hauchon, not only packs a nutritional punch but is also designed in harmony with nature’s colours and pure flavours with lots of Asian influences. It is 100 percent gluten-free, egg and dairy free* and all ingredients used are locally sourced from farmers that practice sustainable agriculture. Hauchon is also committed to seasonality – he promises new dishes every few months.
Hauchon tells us Sakti is a more relaxed version of the award-winning Sakti Dining Room at Fivelements’s Ubud retreat (which he also helms), and while the format may be casual-you order at the bar and grab your tray from the counter)- the execution is far from basic. This is excellent, refined, beautifully presented food, a perfect balance between wellness cuisine and innovative plant-based dining. Having tasted a whole range of Sakti’s lunch menu, we were impressed by how light we felt for the rest of the day. You can practically feel the superfoods boosting your insides!
Breakfast Menu Highlights
Available from 7.30 to 11.30am, the Bar’s breakfast options are bound to stun Hong Kong’s early birds. There is truly something for everyone – from savoury Herbal Cashew Cheese on Toast that is topped with pea shoots and vegetables to sweet Vanilla Coconut Yogurt with fruits. While those who want to refresh and cool down can opt for the mouthwatering Purple Dragon Fruit Bowl, Raw Almond Granola, or Brown Rice Kheer, others who prefer something more hearty can delight in the warm Earl Grey Chia Seed Porridge.
All-Day Plant-Based Dining
Featured on the all-day menu are a range of handpicked seasonal favourites such as Raw Vegetable Tempura, Taster Nibbles and Homemade Pickles (do make sure to try the cashew cheese toasts). The tempting lunch menu is filled with light and refreshing starters such as the Kale and Watercress Salad with Açai Dressing (possibly the best kale salad we’ve ever tasted with a dressing made from over 20 ingredients), and flavourful mains such as the Curry Laksa (another winner, we polished this off).
Lunch visitors can finish off their meal with in-house originals like the Chocolate Mocha Mousse (we devoured this!) or the Coconut Pandan Tofu (ideal for those without a sweet tooth and featuring a lovely earl grey tea gelee). Other desserts are also available all-day for those beating the lunch crowd – scrumptious Raw Citrus Cheesecakes, Coconut Macarons, Blondies made from nuts and seeds, as well as a gorgeous Artisanal Chocolates platter.
Sakti Afternoon Tea Set
Perhaps what steals the show at Sakti Elixir Bar is their afternoon tea menu. Customers can build their own Tea Set from a daily selection of three to five beautifully crafted Sweet Morsels and pair them with an organic, clean and aromatic tea. Other afternoon tea options include the Creamy Vegetable Soup, Miso Soup, the Torrefied Seed Crackers with Beetroot Dip, as well as a range of other sweet dishes.
Smoothies, Elixirs, Juices and More
The Bar’s beverage menu wows with variety. Smoothie and milk-shake lovers will be pleased with the superfood-packed options including the Blue Green Milk Smoothie made with raw cacao and spirulina and the Maca Vanilla Kefir Shake featuring maca root and water kefir. Sakti Elixir Bar also offers rejuvenating shots made with healing ingredients – ginger, lime, turmeric root, wheatgrass and parsley. As if there weren’t already enough choices, customers can cool down with cold-pressed fresh fruit and vegetable juices, kombuchas and tonics from the Elixir menu or warm up with a special caffeinated or decaffeinated coffees and herbal teas.
Fivelements’ innovative culinary concept stuns with its meticulously curated specialty menus designed to rejuvenate using only the finest organic and whole ingredients, sourced sustainably. This is sure to become a highlight of the city’s plant-based eating scene.
*Editor’s Note: While Sakti’s menu does contain dishes made with honey, the rest of what’s on offer is vegan-friendly.
