After an afternoon of shopping and bargain hunting in Hong Kong’s energetic retail heart, Causeway Bay, it’s time to refuel. With numerous dining options, the vast vegetarian and vegan-friendly options do not disappoint – from upscale restaurants to small, independent eateries, this busy neighborhood is dotted with new openings and longstanding establishments. To let you in on the best sustainable eats, here is our list of the best vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Causeway Bay!
ChangLe (Vegan-Friendly)
August 2019 Update: ChangLe has permanently closed.
If you’re in the mood for good ole Taiwanese comfort food with vegetarian flair, look no further than ChangLe (which means ‘always happy’ in Chinese 😊) With an extensive vegetarian, vegan-friendly, mock meat menu, entrées that include egg are marked appropriately. The lunch rush is always crowded with a fantastic set lunch (HKD55) menu that rotates daily. Afternoon tea (HKD45) is also available with regular meals priced starting at HKD 70 and up. We’ve been told their braised eggplant dish and stir fry is yummy, FYI.

CS Vegan (Vegan-Friendly)
A modest all-you-can-eat Buddhist vegan buffet with only 34 seats in the house, CS Vegan (AKA, Chi Sum Vegan) is beloved by locals and expats alike. With tons of plant-based options including stir-fried veggies, tofu, noodles, and soup, dumplings and dessert, the cozy atmosphere brings to mind having a home cooked meal right in your relative’s living room. Lunch will set you back a whopping HKD60 (for AYCE, lest we forget!) and HKD88 for dinner (what a steal!). A bit tricky to find but well worth the adventure, Potek House is wedged between two buildings; directly underneath the flyover.

Gaia Veggie Shop (Vegan-Friendly)
A popular Causeway Bay chain serving Cantonese vegetarian fare with a wide-range of meat alternatives as well, Gaia Veggie Shop is a sprawling establishment when you consider how carnivorous the city is. There is a broad vegan selection, but however we must point out the menu isn’t comprehensive and forthcoming with non-vegan ingredients (I.e, milk has been added in some of the sauces or certain dishes with eggs aren’t marked appropriately). English can be limited, varying from staff to staff but don’t let that deter you! Dishes are priced starting at HKD88 and up. Patrons dining in between the hours of 3PM – 5PM will receive a 50% discount off the entire menu.

Sooo Vegi (Vegan-Friendly)
With its white windows and lush, green biophilic walls, Sooo Vegi beckons ravenous lunch-goers with a ton of delicious meatless fares to choose from. Serving an array of cuisines from Taiwanese and Italian to name a few, this veggie joint (by way of North Point) features salads, wraps, rice dishes with mock meat and an unbelievable Malaysian laksa (HKD42) that you should definitely try. While there are a few tables and chairs set up, we recommend the takeaway option as the noisy lunch crowd tends to hover. The service is fast so you’ll be sitting with your Mexican Style Wrap (HKD32, one of our faves!) in no time.

Leisurely Veggie (Vegan-Friendly)
A cozy restaurant in the heart of Causeway Bay, Leisurely Veggie has a fun vibe with an even better plant-based menu. With lunch (HKD88), tea (HKD58), and dinner (HKD208) sets that changes monthly, a-la-carte items range from HKD68 in standard portions. The vegetarian dim sum is quite tasty with an International range of dishes to choose from. Be sure to save room for their hot or cold desserts at the end!

InnoVeggie
A bright and airy veggie space located in North Point, InnoVeggie serves an international cuisine of Asian and Western inspired dishes with a lunch buffet available during the weekdays. A legend key is provided on the menu denoting egg or dairy dishes, but it might be in your best interest to double check with your wait staff. Lunch set which includes a daily soup, one main, an a drink prices at HKD48 and up. Dinner set for one which serves an appetizer, soup, main entrée, drink and dessert is HKD128.

Veg 6 Vegetarian Restaurant (Vegan-Friendly)
A favored Causeway Bay Chinese fusion restaurant, Veg 6 is spacious, fancy, and tasty. Most dishes range from HKD75 and up with Maki Rolls moderately priced around HKD30 and up. A smattering of Japanese, Italian and western items can be found on their extensive menu, making Veg 6 a great option for big parties and family gatherings. Mock meats play a big role here and dishes containing egg and/or dairy are marked.

Vegelink (Vegan-Friendly)
A popular upscale North Point plant-based establishment, Vegelink serves Hong Kong Chinese vegetarian at its best. With one of the finest spots to get in your vegetarian dim sum fix, this Taiwanese-based company only offers a-la-carte items during lunch with a prix fixe set menu for dinner (HKD228 per person with a minimum party of two). Adjacent to the restaurant is a vegetarian grocery store selling frozen dumplings, mock meats, sauces, and perishables.

Veggie Spinner (Vegan-Friendly)
A tiny cafe and juice bar, Veggie Spinner is a simple, no-frills, restaurant that happily serves vegetarian and vegan-friendly fare. Focusing on a small menu of fresh salads, home-made burgers, wraps and grains starting at HKD60, the dishes are free of onion and/or garlic. Ideal for a quick lunch or take away, we do love supporting small businesses and this cozy restaurant definitely hits the handmade mark!

The Vegvolution Kitchen (Vegan-Friendly)
February 2019 Update: The Vegvolution Kitchen has permanently closed.
We are so stocked about this newcomer! A charming Italian-inspired vegan cafe just opposite Lee Garden, The Vegvolution Kitchen opened earlier this fall in all its breezy, stylish glory. Currently, there is a rotating menu of pizzas (in fact, Vegvolution is one of the only places in Hong Kong to serve pizza with vegan cheese), pastas and risottos on deck – we can’t wait to see what other yummy goodness they’ll come up with. Lunch set begins at HKD78 for a soup and main, while the full set is priced at HKD98. Dinner sets start at HKD178 and up with a small, yet substantial range to choose from. The must try is the pizza, which seems to be the most popular item on the menu!
