Vertage, developed by chef Margaux Riccio of acclaimed restaurants, Bubbies and PowPow in the Washington, D.C. region, has seen a swell of support from restaurants nationwide. It’s the preferred cheese option at the Los Angeles-based celebrity vegan hotspot Crossroads and is available at New York’s Unregular Pizza and the Butcher’s Daughter as well as mid-Atlantic mainstays Call Your Mother and Andy’s Pizza.
“Vertage shares our commitment to sustainable, healthy eating, and we’re excited for the possibilities this alliance will bring,” Mohammad Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman and CEO at Fresh Del Monte, said in a statement. “We’re always seeking to collaborate with brands that align with our mission and can leverage our multiple streams of business, such as our reliable logistics network.”
Fresh Del Monte will support the startup by offering the use of its production facilities, tech, and logistics network. Del Monte says the support will help the cheesemaker penetrate new markets. Fresh Del Monte has also backed Vertage in its most recent round of funding.
Tim Wildin, Vertage’s CEO, praised Fresh Del Monte for its incredible legacy as a global leader in fresh, healthy eating. “This partnership will allow us to expand our line of our clean-label, healthy foods to more people, more quickly, and more affordably than ever before.”
