How did yoga enter your life?
I completed my first yoga teacher training in 2011 in Hong Kong with Patrick Creelman and have since gone on to study baby yoga with Sally Lomas from Birthlight Baby Yoga, Children’s yoga with Jenny Smith from Gecko Yoga and Forrest Yoga with Ana Forrest. I also co-founded Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga (SUP YOGA) in Hong Kong in 2013 and have just run our first SUP Yoga teacher training in 2016.
Where and what type of yoga do you teach?
I mostly teach Forrest Yoga-inspired classes and mommy & baby yoga classes and in private sessions at Pause Studio. I also teach privately at my clients’ homes. I’m a very hands-on teacher and my classes are breath focused with the goal of having my students feel relaxed after class, whether they are a mom with a newborn or a seasoned yogi.
What yoga mat do you use every day?
I love my Lotus Artogi yoga mat! It’s the best combination of art, a towel, a travel mat and a yoga mat all rolled into one! The brand supports and works with artists like James Piper to bring art to life. I get sweaty a lot when I practice and I love that the mat is so easy to wash and dry.
What yoga accessory do you swear by?
I can’t live without a rolled-up large towel! In Forrest Yoga, we use it to work on those smaller muscles in our body that yoga blocks are too hard for.
What is your favorite yogawear brand?
Even with all the other brands out there, I love my luon, the performance fabric used by Lululemon. I don’t like shopping around for clothes so when I know what fits, I like being able to go in, pick up my size and color and cash out. I’m what you’d call a key and core kind of girl: wunder under leggings and a cool racer back tank paired with an energy bra. I have them in every color under the sun!
What is your daily mantra?
My daily mantra is “Let Love Rule.” It is so important to me that it’s tattooed on my forearm.
What yoga studio do you enjoy practicing at?
While I practice at Pure Yoga a few times a week, I always come back to my Boga Board in Stanley. There’s no better “studio” to get connected to than Mother Nature, and I truly enjoy practicing out in the open water.
Where do you go to eat?
HOME Eat To Live‘s Siberian Tiger Earth Bowl has my favorite combination of clean, healthy, sweet and spicy rolled into one.
What’s your favorite thing about Green Queen?
I love that Green Queen doesn’t miss a detail and you can be sure that what they’re sharing has been well researched.
