The MaE/Mae Deli – Veggie Cafe & Take-Away
One of the internet’s biggest health food bloggers and a passionate advocate of plant-based cuisine, Ella Woodward of Deliciously Ella opened up The MaE Deli with her husband (taking the first letters of their names plus their cocker spaniel’s, Austin) in 2015 to wide fanfare. Since then, the three-time best-selling cookbook author has added more locations with varied offerings, not to mention her ever-popular energy balls (which can now be found in shops throughout the city!) Emphasizing transparency in their veggie-forward, mostly gluten-free menus (which includes sharing their recipes), all of MaE Deli meals are packaged in recyclable or compostable packaging for an eco bonus.

Founded by Lady Carole Bamford, her food and lifestyle concept is an experience in organic and healthy eco-luxury at its finest. Their 4,500 sq ft lifestyle emporium in Chelsea touts three floors of seasonally curated groceries, UK dairy products and heritage-breed meats straight from the organic fields of the company’s own Gloucestershire farms (a two-hour drive from London). Also on offer: artisanal homewares and a great selection of organic and biodynamic wines. We love the food menus: organic fare presented in fresh, modern dishes that make for the perfect healthy lunch and brunch spot!

Bare walls and Moorish-tiled floors belie scrumptious Levant salads, dips (their garlicky hummus may be the best in town), mezze and grilled meat mains, all served with hot, soft pitas and a well-curated drinks list.
