The recent bounty of healthy lunch choices in the +852 means the city is awash with healthy veggie bowls and scrumptious salads. With so many new entrants on the wellness scene, we wanted to round up some of our favs below.
Curried Mixed Seafood Quinoa Salad @ The Elephas
Located in new gym The Warrior Academy, The Elephas has both a Health Bar serving food and a Coffee Bar for a pre- or post-workout caffeine boost. The resto serves Thai-inspired dishes, which pair nicely with their Muay Thai classes. Try the Curried Mixed Seafood Quinoa Salad (HKD 98), made with grilled garoupa, shrimp, squid and mussels over a quinoa base, and topped with rocket, cherry tomatoes and shiitake mushrooms.

Laughing Buddha Bowl @ Anything But Salads
December 2016 Update: Anything But Salads has closed down.
Local raw vegan trendsetter Anything But Salads has re-opened and now offers a whole menu of delectable meal options. Their Laughing Buddha Bowl (HKD 99) hits some veggie high notes with quinoa, fermented namul (seasoned Korean vegetables such as red cabbage and bell peppers which are fermented in house), dehydrated tomatoes, salsa, avocado, nori seaweed, sprouts, sesame seeds, chilli-almond butter sauce and oh-so-delicious raw garlicnaise.

Asian Invasion @ Genie Juicery
Known around town for their delicious cold-pressed juices, Genie Juicery has amped their menu ante and now stocks of bright vegan salads. Try their Asian Invasion (HKD 70), a staff favorite, made with organic kale, seared purple cabbage, garlic, ginger, nori seaweed, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, Japanese brown rice, and a sesame-almond dressing, PLUS a cheeky topping of gluten-free pretzels!

Ivory Billed Woodpecker @ HOME Eat To Live
July 2017: HOME Eat To Live has now closed down.
Plant-based metropolis HOME Eat To Live has more than a few yummy veggie offerings. However, we can’t get enough of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker (HKD 128), a bowl of goodness full of purple rice, quinoa, wilted kale, fermented cabbage, stewed adzuki beans, grated carrot and a seaweed-tahini dressing. Yes please!

Bibimbap @ K-Roll
For the uninitiated, bibimbap is a emblematic dish in Korean cuisine: the terms means “mixed rice” and a bowl of involves warm white rice topped with seasoned vegetables and chili pepper paste. K-Roll offers a plant based version (HKD 80) made with tofu, spinach, carrots, bean sprout, squash, black & white mushrooms and an optional soft-boiled egg.

Organic Apple Roasted US Pasture Raised Pulled Pork Shoulder @ Supafood
Supafood founder Stephen Wu wants to change the way we all eat. We could not agree with his vision more, especially when it means indulging in their moreish Organic Apple Roasted US Pasture Raised Pulled Pork Shoulder salad box (HKD 108-118), which also comes with organic kale, cherry tomatoes, pomegranate, roasted pumpkin, feta, red onions, chia seeds, quinoa, apple, coriander, and an apple cider vinaigrette.

Grilled Vegetables Salad @ The Restaurant By The Kinnet

Located in holistic health centre The Kinnet, The Restaurant By The Kinnet has a selection of healthy options many of which change daily. Our pick? Their Grilled Vegetables Salad, (HKD 68), a delightful combination of eggplant, zucchini, tomatoes, green beans and feta topped with pesto.

Summer Brussel Sprout Salad @ Tivo Kennedy Town
The next time you are in K-Town, be sure to check out the new ‘Superfoods’ menu at Tivo. Our favorite, their elegant Summer Brussels Sprout Salad (HKD 78) combines the roasted cruciferous veggies with a poached egg, lemon and anchovies.
