Wow there is so much happening on the Hong Kong health food scene it is kinda amazing!
Superfoods to Go
The first brand of raw superfood blended drinks has arrived! Pure Swell has a range of six delicious blends including coconut water based Hydrate, greens-packed Detox and cacao infused Pick Me Up. Founder Allison Li wanted to make it as easy as possible for all of us Hong Kongers on the go to get our nutrition efficiently. She has amply succeeded!
New Bakeries
Hong Kong now boasts its own raw/living foods bakery. Say hello to The Unbaked Bakery, which specializes in pure, unprocessed ingredients made into cupcakes, tarts, cookies and even macaroons! Simply amazing. The extremely talented Priscilla Soligo of Rawthentic Food is the creative force behind this healthy and delicious line of desserts, sweets and cakes.
Opening VERY soon is Choice Cooperative, Hong Kong’s first uncontaminated, gluten-free bakery using wholesome ingredients. Their full range of baked goods will be available at their flagship store in Aberdeen starting November 15th. GF folks everywhere are so excited! Choice Cooperative will also offer a menu of healthy snacks and their space includes a play area for the kids. What’s not to love?
Also on new on the Southside scene is Artichoke Canteen, a healthy living restaurant that just opened its doors in Aberdeen last month. They offer fine dining and cafe food with an international menu selection with a focus on organic ingredients.
Fruit Fest
One of the MOST difficult things to find in Hong Kong is organic fruit so we are totally thrilled to announce that organic produce delivery service Green Little Frog now supplies a varied selection of organic tropical fruits like mango, bananas, papaya, mangosteen and pomelo. Yay! All their produce arrives daily from Thailand.
If you are looking for another easy solution to get your fruits and veggies into your daily routine, why not try Fruitsclub? They deliver powdered freeze dried organic fruits and vegetable sachets that can be added to a glass of water or whipped into a nutritious smoothie. Easy peasy.
Kale Kraze
Can you believe Hong Kong now has TWO raw kale chip brands!! The always fabulous Chef Shima Shimizu of Sesame Kitchen has created a cracking kale range for Green Vitamin and raw Chef Callie G has her own kale line too- Anything But Salads is her Hong Kong made brand of raw prepared snacks! Other than kale chips, she makes granola, flax crackers, energy bars, XOCO raw chocolate truffles and other healthy hard-to-find items like coconut yoghurt and almond butter.
Don’t forget: Green Vitamin also delivers both Dino (Lacinato) and curly organic kale, grown right here in Hong Kong. Eat Fresh is now delivering organic local curly kale too (and organic eggs) along with their local organic produce selection! No excuses not to get your hands on the superfood of the decade! Love this new collaborative attitude. Oh and great news for those of us looking for healthier lunch options- Something Fresh now delivers cooked lunches to folks around Central.
Another awesome collaboration is Chef Shima Shimizu of Sesame Kitchen and Green Vitamin . On top of the kale chips she makes for them, there are also two types of kefir: water and coconut, and melt in your mouth healthy snacks made with vegan and organic ingredients.
