Despite the challenging circumstances Hong Kong is currently facing, the plant-based food scene in the city isn’t showing many signs of slowdown. To help you keep up with the growing list of plant-based bites, we have highlighted the best in new menus, openings and more food news in our column. Here’s what’s new in plant-based dining this February.
BREAKING: MANA! Central Is Moving To Soho
After many years in the running, Hong Kong’s beloved fast casual plant-based chain MANA! will be closing up its Wellington Street Central location due to plans to demolish the building they have called home since 2011. But fans won’t have to fret – the café will be moving to the nearby Soho area on Staunton Street in May, right next to the escalator. Until then, MANA! Central will still be up and running until the end of March for you to grab your favourite zaatar-filled flat.
Address: MANA! Soho, 8 Staunton Street, Central.
Sai Kung’s Casa Tapas Bar Reopens As Plant-Forward 2084
Sai Kung’s favourite Casa Tapas Bar has just rebranded to 2084 – with a whole load of new vegan and vegetarian offerings. While the bar will still serve some omni dishes, you can expect a range of Asian-inspired plant-based tapas, from pan-fried momos to peking oyster mushroom wraps and a spicy mapo tofu to die for. They also have a good range of gluten-free choices on offer. What’s not to love?
Address: 2084, 5 Sha Tsui Path, Sai Kung.
Black Sheep Group Introduces More Plant-Based Menu Options

There are even more options available across their other restaurant locations, including at Rajasthan Rifles (Dum Aloo Gunpowder and Chana Masala) atop the Peak, and Chôm Chôm (Summer Paper Rolls) and Hotal Colombo (Sambols and Spinach Mallum, Chilli Potato Fry), both in the heart of Soho.

SingaLings Updates Menu With Huge Plant-Based Selection
Though not technically a plant-based restaurant, SingaLings in Sai Kung deserves a shout-out for its range of vegan fare on its menu. We’re talking avocado on turkish toast, soy yogurt muesli, Mexican-style beans on sourdough, tofu scramble and vegan sausages – and that’s just their breakfast menu. In addition to 100% plant-based pizza among loads of vegetarian and vegan mains available for lunch and dinner, SingaLings even offers a range of vegan desserts, such as their moreish gluten-free chocolate mud cake.
Address: SingaLings, 60 Po Tung Road, Sai Kung.
Everyday Veggie (每日)
While Everyday Veggie isn’t exactly a newcomer to Hong Kong’s plant-based food scene, we thought that Kowloon’s ultimate all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet is the perfect pick-me-up for herbivores amid challenging circumstances in the city (plus we also JUST discovered it 😉 ). Expect a delicious selection of Chinese, Japanese and fusion Western vegan and vegetarian dishes (all clearly labelled!) and an impressive salad bar and dessert station too. Be warned – Everyday Veggie gets super busy at peak times, so it’s a good idea to reserve ahead.
Address: Everyday Veggie, G/F Diamond Court, 10-12 Hillwood Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.
Unlimeat Launches At Green Common & Kind Kitchen
Unlimeat, a 100% plant-based beef product made from upcycled grains, oats and nuts that would be otherwise thrown away, has just launched across all Green Common locations and Kind Kitchen. The Unlimeat Satay Beefless Toast is a take on Hong Kong’s classic cha chaan teng dish: the satay beef sandwich. Green Common and Kind Kitchen’s chefs will be dishing out the signature bite using Unlimeat’s beef fillets, seasoned with satay sauce and topped with stir-fried onions.
