As Asia’s culinary capital, the buffet landscape in Hong Kong is bar none! With a wide range of diverse cuisines to choose from, our fair city offers a seemingly endless choice of delectable dishes that’s sure to loosen up the belt straps and put you in a food coma. Thanks to the growing vegetarian and vegan awareness, we found some amazing AYCE for everyone at affordable prices. For those who loves plenty of selection when it comes to food, here are the best plant-based buffets on a budget!

Ahimsa Buffet

The first affordable vegetarian buffet in Hong Kong, Ahimsa Buffet enjoyed such a massive success from its 2015 debut in North Point that it went on to open two other outlets in Mong Kok and Jordan. Charging a cash-only weekday flat fee of HKD 68 during lunch and HKD 108 for dinner (prices vary for weekends and holidays), diners have over 20 dishes to choose from featuring Asian and western fare.

Basmati

A spacious Indian/Nepalese restaurant in Sheung Wan, Basmati is famed for its great vibe, affordable prices and tasty authentic cuisine. The lunch buffet is just HKD 99 which includes one standard drink, divided into appetizers, rice and curries, soups and daal. Be warned: their lunch buffet is a hit so get here early!

Harvester

August 2019 Update: Harvester has now closed down operations.

With an extensive plant-based spread, Harvester offers and abundance of classic Chinese dishes with complimentary rice, soup, tea and water. Diners pick as much as they want and then pay by weight at the end of the counter, which at time of this writing, is priced at HKD 38 for 100/grams. Closed on Sundays, Harvester is cash-only or accepts Octopus payment.

Bijas Vegetarian

The first vegetarian restaurant located on the University of Hong Kong campus, Bijas Vegetarian is another pay-by-weight model that serves up delicious Chinese vegan and vegetarian fare. Offering their Mindful Buffet Monday – Saturday for lunch from 11:30AM – 2:30PM and dinner from 5:30PM – 9:00PM, the restaurant charges a modest HKD 16 for 100/grams.

My Meat Run Buddy

A vegetarian gem located in Kowloon, My Meat Run Buddy is a favorite amongst plant-based locals. You’ll find a rainbow colored selection of dishes such as salads, rice, wraps, mock meats and desserts. From Monday – Friday, their hourlong lunch buffet goes for HKD 68, while weekends and public holiday is HKD 90; Dinner buffet gives you a 90minute window for HKD 120, while Friday – Sunday and public holidays will set you back HKD 150.

Sprout Cafe

August 2019 Update: Post renovation, Sprout is no longer offering a buffet but they do have a great 3 -course lunch deal for only HK$ 50. 

A bright and airy spot in Wan Chai, Sprout Cafe offers a plethora of plant-based eats. With a large selection of salads, cold tofu, Chinese cuisine and desserts, there are also a few mock meat options available. Their lunch buffet, which runs from 11:30AM – 2:30PM, will set you back HKD 88-98 during the weekdays on a 50 timestamp, while Saturday and public holidays will cost HKD 138-158 for an hour. Dinner buffet begins from 6:00PM – 9:30PM, which will cost HKD 138 for 90 minutes from Thursday – Saturday and HKD 158 on Sunday evenings. They have also added a Tea Time Buffet option, which runs from 2.30PM – 5.30PM, and will cost HKD 88 for an hour.
