Scuba Divers

(ALL INTERNAL and LIMITED EXTERNAL USES) Divers from The Nature Conservancy monitoring coral reefs in ocean waters off Kofiau island. Kofiau is part of the Raja Ampat Islands of Indonesia, located in the Coral Triangle, an area containing what may be the richest variety of marine species and corals in the world. The people of this region rely on the sea as their most important source of food and income. The Conservancy has been actively working here with local government, communities and other partners for the protection of Raja Ampat’s vital marine habitat. The result of these efforts has virtually eliminated destructive fishing practices from the local Kofiau Marine Protected Areas. PHOTO CREDIT: © Jeff Jonover
